Having apparently got bored of asking for new bins in full meetings of Tamworth Borough Council, it appears that Tamworth Labour party have moved on to asking how to do the jobs they were elected to do, in public, a somewhat interesting move given most of them have been elected since May and at least one quite a bit longer. You’d think they’d know this stuff by now. We are going to have a pop at answering the questions to save Councillors who we pity having to answer them the trouble.
Let’s start with this one:
Under Procedure Rule No 11, Councillor G Coates will ask the Portfolio Holder for Operations and Finance, Councillor Thomas Jay, the following question:- Residents come across many green and blue bins either dumped or left abandoned, all contaminated with rubbish, who at Tamworth Borough Council should be contacted to deal with this growing issue?
Considering the residents are presumably asking you about this Councillor Coates, maybe the answer is, erm, you maybe Councillor Coates? You do recall getting elected right?
Under Procedure Rule No 11, Councillor G Coates will ask the
Portfolio Holder for Housing and Planning, Councillor S Smith, the
following question:-
Can the council confirm or deny that the council has ran out of money to undertake housing repairs on a council property, one resident has contacted me and said an employee of the Council told them there is no money till after April 2024?
Same Councillor, utterly bizzare question. Let’s translate this “A resident heard a daft rumour from some unnamed ’employee’, and rather than ask someone in the council the question as is my right and privilege as a Councillor to do, I am going to leave the resident hanging for an answer, so that I can do my very best to score some kind of political point.” Presumably this Councillor is going to be told “No don’t be stupid” but a little bit more politely.
Under Procedure Rule No 11, Councillor S Daniels will ask the
Acting Leader of the Council, Councillor T Jay, the following
question:- Bolehall residents are increasingly concerned that it is unsafe to walk, use a wheelchair or mobility scooter or manoeuvre a push char along Blythe Street without having to go into the middle of the road- so dangerous is the parking by the Royal Mail Delivery Office with pavements often completely covered by cars. Will the leader of the council support my fellow councillors and I in bringing this dangerous situation to an end?
No the leader is going to stand there Councillor Daniels and say he absolutely despises bipeds and those who travel on wheels due to disability and would rather they be flattened or maimed in traffic. He might also remind you that Tamworth Borough Council has bugger all to do with roads or pavements, and you might be better off asking the County Council. But surely you know that already?
Under Procedure Rule No 11, Councillor C Adams will ask the
Portfolio Holder for Housing & Planning, Councillor S smith, the
following question:-
As the council is aware of the problems at Glenfield Sheltered housing, included the heating system, could you please make sure that it is a priority of the council to fix the issues there?
No Councillor Adams, the Council would prefer that the pensioners freeze to death and free up some more space in the scheme to make room for those who will vote Tory in exchange for keeping warm. Is that the point you were trying to make? Because we know Tories are evil creatures who would privatise oxygen given the chance! Sadly we at Debunking know the Labour party quite often brainwash them young to think things like this.
Under Procedure Rule No 11, Councillor C Adams will ask the
Acting Leader of the Council, Councillor T Jay, the following
question:-, the following question:-
When the plans changed to demolished and rebuild the former Peel café, why did the plans not go back to the planning committee?
Now, to his credit, this is not totally unreasonable, but we are still annoyed as the Councillor obviously doesn’t read this site.
Under Procedure Rule No 11, Councillor C Dean will ask the
Portfolio Holder for Housing and Planning, Councillor S Smith, the
following question:-
Could the leader please advise me who has the responsibility for protecting the natural habitats within our borough? Cllr Daniels and myself are dealing with a major issue in the Bolehall ward where a resident has been allowed to cut down a great many tress and lay a hardcore road surface on what is considered to be ‘Common Land.’ Would the trees in question have been covered by the Tree Preservation List from 1967. I understand there is a TPO listed online for Bolehall and Kettlebrook.
Well Councillor Dean, see there’s this thing called Google, you might have heard of it, been around since 1998, entered the common vernacular as a verb ‘to google’. Last we heard, the Borough Council didn’t have a wildlife and natural habitat department as they couldn’t afford Chris Packham to run it, as they’re spending all that cash keeping pensioners warm. We assume this is about the Warwickshire Moor, in which case Carol, its’ private land dear, so hard cheese. It’s also been quite a while since all this happened, we do wonder if she read our article covering it.
Under Procedure Rule No 11, Councillor C Dean will ask the Portfolio
Holder for Housing and Planning, Councillor S Smith, the following
question:-
Can the leader tell me what duty of care we have to our elderly residents in the High Rise flats. I have a gentleman who has a medical condition that means he needs constant temperature in his environment, but between our contractors and Octopus energy who are his suppliers he has been without heating for a considerable time, having to resort to using fan heaters, which will be having an effect on his budget
We translate this as “Rather than help the poor gentleman and get in touch with someone at the Council or his energy supplier who might know the answer to this question sooner, so the poor bugger doesn’t freeze. I thought I would risk turning the resident into a pensioner popsicle for at least a week so that I could ask this question and try and presumably score some points.
Under Procedure Rule No 11, Councillor L Wood will ask the
Portfolio Holder for Entertainment and Leisure, Councillor A
Cooper, the following question:-
I’ve had a resident approach me with concerns of tree branches growing onto their roof, and onto the cables that run from a telegraph pole to multiple homes nearby. There is also a potential issue of the solar panels on the library being affected because of the trees. Can I ask whose responsibility it is when it comes to tree maintenance in St. Editha’s churchyard?
Councillor ‘can’t see the’ Wood ‘for the trees’ has decided to ask full council how to deal with a residents enquiry rather than officers that could presumably answer him almost immediately and perhaps even get it sorted for him. Again political point scoring that has fallen on its arse. Oh and does he forget who runs the Library and might be able to handle it themselves?
Under Procedure Rule No 11, Councillor L Wood will ask the Acting
Leader of the Council, Councillor T Jay, the following question:-
Is there an update on the roof over the Middle Entry, and have considerations now been taken when it comes to the businesses that will be affected by its’ eventual removal?
There’s an old proverb Councillor Wood, “If a man wishes for an update on a roof, he must surely look upwards”. Last time we walked through it, the roof was definitely still there. We guess Councillor Wood is worried that people will be rained on if there is no roof. It used to be once upon a time that businesses loved when it rained as it would drive customers inside their store. Of course as the Middle Entry is covered up, Debunking has many a time taken shelter along with many of the good residents of Tamworth under its’ roof and didn’t go into any of the shops. One might say that is counterproductive no?
Talking of rain, you can watch this shower ask their questions right here, live tonight.
