We know that you’ve been desperately waiting for news on the Tamworth Conservative Party Association tonight. Thanks to our ever present moles, we’ve got the low down. It seems whenever they have their meetings at Quinney Hall there’s always someone or something listening in. Well we can exclusively reveal that Councillor Robert Pritchard has been elected in a head to head battle between him and Councillor Paul Turner for association chairman.
Pritchard who has been an elected Tory in one form or another for twenty years, has recently had the title of Alderman bestowed to him along with Daniel Cook at a recent Council meeting. He now takes up the reigns from serial goofer David Smith, many Tories will be breathing a sigh of relief tonight. Pritchard came up against Turner in an attempt by him and his loyal followers to take over the Conservative association after failing miserably at taking over Tamworth Borough Council from Councillors Pritchard and Oates in a coup last May.
We hear that once the mighty one had fallen, his faithful in Councillors Clements and Smith immediately withdrew from their respective nominations for positions, in a disgusting show of toadyism for Turner and disrespect, since serving under Pritchard would be apparently a step too far for these supposed grown up adults. Presumably they also knew they stood no chance given the votes in the room. We are told Clements face at points looked like a bulldog chewing a wasp that chewed a lemon.
So will this injection of ‘youth’, and we say that heavily coated in irony given Pritchard is in his 40s, be enough to start reversing the fortunes of Tamworth Tories? It remains to be seen. At least however the attempt by Turner and co to take over the local party has been blown out of the water.
