Whilst we were browsing Sarah Edwards former MP for Moseley North’s Facebook page, we first noticed that Spudman is now correctly tagged in her post. Then we noticed a rather long, but surprisingly good contribution in the comments section, which had us nearly spit out our morning beer all over our kippers. It seems dear reader, that there are some still very reasonable people that exist on Facebook and indeed in Tamworth. Below is the quote from the post by a gentleman who is apparently the proprietor of the small business above. We thought we’d take a leaf out of Kingstones‘ book and promote him.
I’ve been here 2 years dude and I half agree😂 but that said I absolutely love it here!! It’s fantastic and I do struggle to see much of what folks moan about….other than the odd pothole!
Yeah the town centre is a bit shoddy but that’s pretty much most small town centres now isn’t it? I just find it all comical how quickly folks turn on each other during an election! This is why I actually genuinely believe the problem isn’t actually governing…..it’s people!Sadly many many folks think their lives are awful! Like they really truly believe it! Trust me (or don’t) that all the folks whinging and crying on here, hating one another, refusing to accept that others folks have different opinions will wake up in…let’s say august 2024 and their lives will just be no different than they are today….which given we live in one of the best countries in the world should be pretty darn good!
These are all the same people (myself included) that shop on Amazon, get the vegetables from Aldi/asda go to larger franchised opticians and such rather than support local small businesses and then moan the town centres are not thriving!!😂😂 if you stop and think about it, it really is comical! I really don’t know the answer to the town centre issue, I don’t see why any small businesses would want in on it really…..take the spud guy…..he has a wagon right? He has a huge stream of customers…..why’s he not in a shop? There’s plenty empty??? It’s because he’s a clever geezer and he doesn’t want the overheads…..best I can say is the town needs a real farmers market on a weekly basis….i actually think other than that create affordable housing and maybe eateries would pop up?
I think “on its knees” is probably a tad far, I imagine the pubs do ok, once the college opens properly you’ll likely see different demographic in the town and it may well flourish….who really knows? I think blaming the tories for the last 14 years is just a bit too easy for people as is blaming Labour before them. We honestly live in a really good country (obviously we have some shitheads, where doesn’t?) but as I’ve said before people flock to get here….ya gotta ask why? I’m absolutely comfortable that Labour will be in government on July 5th it wouldn’t be my choice but in all honesty all that will happen is we might pay a bit more tax….we might not, nobody really knows! What is for certain is all the folks on here and Sarah’s page who get their way will absolutely jizz in their pants…for a few days….then life will resume.
I obviously have my views, folks can agree or disagree and it’s all fine by me. I actually got blocked from spotted Tamworth simply for suggesting that their generally helpful page shouldn’t be used to sway folks politically and I did mention that something they had put up about Eddie was simply a wrong representation…..but this is what it all does to people, if you dare to disagree with all the pop up politicians on a Facebook page your chastised, blocked (I’ve only ever blocked 1 person myself but he was being a touch weird) called names etc. it’s so sad as these are generally your neighbours!! I generally just agree to disagree! My opinions really don’t matter much, I have roughly 15-20 people in my entire life that really matter to me personally, obviously it’d be lovely to be able to have laid back conversations with other opinionated folks….i love that! But it is all just opinions. Roll on July 5th I say!! People will start getting off their horses and cracking in with their own lives. My biggest concern in the country at this moment in time is where I’m watching England v Denmark!!! It’s possible I might be too laid back!

Now, isn’t that the most reasonable assessment of the town and what happens during election times that you’ve ever read? We thought so. And we think Tony deserves all the business for this. It’s astonishing to find such refreshing honesty, especially buried in the comments section of a Labour MP candidate page. We wish other people were more like this man. We recognise that our opinions on this site can be polarising, although we speak with some experience on the matter it is often that people on social media are clueless, like these two.

Within the very same comments section you have the village idiot Paul Keightley who has publicly said some of the most idiotic clueless tripe we’ve seen on Tamworth social media. He hangs around politicians pages like a bad smell and is one of those regularly up the backside of Kingstone. He couldn’t be more the opposite of the poster we’ve highlighted. Keightley evidently spends a lot of his time trolling, and has a ‘I’m right they’re wrong’ attitude to life, which is presumably all his brain can cope with.
We’ve seen Eddie Hughes Facebook page (to whom he is referring) where he regularly talks to and engages with the people in his comments section. Unlike Edwards who is too fragile and self important to talk the great unwashed. Given what we’ve seen, you’d have to be quite the arsehole to get blocked from Eddie’s page, and Keightley sure fits the bill.
Mr Barnes might not have a political preference that we can see, and obviously we have. It doesn’t really matter, because simply having the ability to see through all of the bullshit is a rare gift and ability that lamentably is lacking amongst our general population. People speaking as if they know it all when in fact they know very little can be quite a force for bad, especially in an echo chamber like Facebook. Regardless of who wins on the 4th of July. We should all take a leaf out of the book of Tony Barnes. Let’s just hope he’s a decent decorator!
