Mercia Boxing Club were very privileged to receive a visit from MP for Moseley North Sarah Edwards recently, and she brought along a friend, the minister for fun stuff Lisa Nandy. Aww how lovely it is to see Sarah bring along a friend to do a bit of electioneering. According to Nandy, it’s the Labour government and ‘great MPs like Sarah’ that were able to transform the lives of young people. How sweet.
Trouble is, neither of these two, let alone the Labour government had anything to do with the Boxing Clubs revival. Despite Edward’s claim that she had been supporting them from the start. It was all down to the efforts of the community, raising £700k to do so, and for which they should be proud and praised. Instead for their trouble, they’ve been hijacked by our MP and her mate for an election campaign video, in which no-one from the boxing club even got to speak. If Edwards did support the boxing club, then we’d love to know exactly how she did this. As would these people.
Mark Tamplin hits the nail on the head, exactly why are the Labour party trying to score brownie points. Would it be the election coming up perhaps? Is Edwards too stupid to realise that most people have seen through her caring about Tamworth act a long time ago? It seems so. She even brought County Council candidate and current leader of the council Carol Dean along to bask in the glory of deception.
Even in this picture they couldn’t bring themselves to have anyone from the boxing club team present. It seems to be a big screw you to the boxing club, and if we were them we’d be feeling very used by now. Unfortunately, the Labour party will never see any wrong in what they’re doing, and the majority of their voters will not see this stunt for what it is. This is what Labour relies on to get elected. Trying to steal even a small amount of credit in this instance is going too far, Edwards would love you to think her support is the reason the boxing club is here today. All she has done, is insult and betrayed every single person who actually did support them.
