It took much longer than we thought it would, but here’s Labour now coming out fighting in the most predictable of manners. Dear reader, please have in mind that Labour have now been in charge of the Borough Council for just 3 months shy of a year. Up pops Councillor Sarah Daniels however, to tell everyone it’s all that pesky previous (Tory) administrations fault that this Spudman situation has happened. We don’t even believe that this is Daniels’ cabinet role, with London based Councillor Nova Arkney having yet to comment, instead sharing the statement of Councillor Carol Dean who has been left to ‘handle’ this entire disaster. Here’s a selection of comments from Deans’ most recent statement.

As of yet, replies to Councillor Daniels’ post have not been coming in thick and fast, although one salient point has been posed to her by a resident. “Plans can be altered!”. Spot on Pauline, and gold stars for coming up with a response that Labour could have come out with had they given a shit. Instead, we get platitudes and meaningless bullshit from Labour. Village idiot Mark Hopkins also gives his considered opinion on the matter, which like Labours’ responses is completely tone deaf and fails to take into consideration any of the rather exceptional circumstances surrounding one of the towns most successful and loved businessmen.
Carol Dean, having now presumably been told to ‘let the adults deal with this’, is absent from a statement released by the Borough Council from CEO Stephen Gabriel:

Great to see the Chief Executive having to step in to make up for the complete lack of leadership and common sense shown by those elected to be political ‘leaders’ of this town. The Labour leader and cabinet are in the position to, and more than able to halt and change plans as necessary. The flower bed is not even built yet and it does not have to be. We would be very surprised if any changes to landscaping even had to go through the planning process, but we are happy to be corrected by officers of the Council who read this site (we know you do guys don’t be shy, use a VPN).
The elephant still in the room is whether former Council leaders Paul Turner or Thomas Jay, who were in charge of the original St Edithas Square plans, did not have proper oversight of them and failed to make sure Spudman was accommodated. Spudman/Ben Newman said on a recent TikTok that a previous Council leader, who had been dealing with this, had been to see him and acknowledged the promises made to put him back in the same position. Since we know Councillor Jay is no longer resident in the UK, it can presumably only have been recently independent Councillor Turner who went to see him. Was the ball dropped and promises not kept, worse, promises made that could not be? Regardless, Labour blaming the Tories for something very easily fixed is business as usual for them. They simply don’t have a clue how to run a council, or a country for that matter.
