We are used to Labour taking credit for things, lying is their modus operandi and how they get elected. There are plenty of people gullible enough to believe everything politicians tell them, Labour especially play on this to the max and you actually won’t find many Tories doing this type of thing. You only have to look at the continual steamroller of pent up Labour government policies being rammed down the nations throat in a desperate bid to destroy this country and local democracy before the end of their term.
Councillor Natalie Statham, would very much like everyone to believe that Labour Councillors Carol Dean and Nova Arkney were the ones that finally got the Town Centre bollards fixed. Of course, this has been going on for years, something we here at Debunking acknowledge, and they’ve been ‘finally fixed’ many times before. You have to be even more special kind of gullible to believe that after years of pressure from the Tories on Civil Servants at Staffordshire Council to get this resolved and put it on the top of their priorities, that Labour swooped in and got them fixed in a matter of months. You know the type of people who say “I loosened it for you” when you finally get the lid off a jar after they had a quick go? They’re joking usually, not Labour politicians though. Of course. When you talk of special kinds of gullible people, they soon show up in the comments. As they did when the Staffordshire Conservatives Facebook page chimed in to correct the assertion of one of their own.

You will see here one of the local trolls and former political candidate Jason Aston making disparaging remarks towards Staffordshire Conservatives saying “You’ve been faffing around with these for years”. Erm yeah that’s kind of the point Jason, they have indeed, and to varying levels of success. So how is it Labour would somehow come in and ‘fix’ them in such a short amount of time? Magic? No, just very good timing for Labour to make it their own achievement.
Aston then goes on to criticise the two Councillors given the credit for fixing the bollards for the parked cars on the street when someone pointed it out on another Facebook group. Jason just likes whining. Both the complainer and him failed to notice that the cars are not past the barriers. They also seem to ignore the fact that unless someone was there to fine the owners of these vehicles, they will happily ignore the yellow lines. It’s like complaining the police weren’t already sat in your house when the burglar got in.

The reason there are cars on that street at any time is simply because they are legally allowed to be, even on double yellows for a short period whilst loading. We’ve covered this before. Market Street itself is not and has not been for a long long time, pedestrianised full time. Yet people still bang on with confidence in the fallacy that cars should not use it. The Tories are getting a review and revision of the traffic management order, to manage this and stop people using it as a thoroughfare. Yes, people, ultimately those who ignore the signs and traffic order are responsible for the very much overblown ‘problems’ with cars on Market Street, but facts just get in the way don’t they. Blaming the people who actually cause the problems isn’t a popular tactic with politicians even if it’s honest because they’d get heavily attacked by the trolls.
Talking of Jason Aston, he’s been very busy on Facebook recently. As you will see here, being told to stop being a Facebook Warrior by a resident, in response to this:

Whilst it is great to see people calling Aston out for such bullshit, and of course equally amusing, sadly he’s never going to give up being a Facebook Warrior. He’s also apparently an expert on road building now too, maybe Staffordshire County Council hire him?

Oh no wait, they’d better not. He actually has no experience in road building at all, we are told all he has is experience in is water systems. You’re a special kind of person to question things you know nothing about. His only expertise in fact seems to be hanging around Facebook sticking his oar in on everything.
Back to the bollards, the fact is these bollards will likely break again soon and will actually never be permanently fixed. Simply because of how they were designed. We’ve been told the reason that they continually break is because certain individuals who find them tiresome, purposely park on them as they are rising, which triggers a safety mechanism and effectively ‘trips’ them out. This requires someone to visit and get them back in order again. Unfortunately these aren’t the type of bollards that keep going when they reach an obstacle, which is a shame as this might teach whomever keeps breaking them a lesson. No-one of course will tell you this, and to be honest, a lot of the Facebook warriors would never believe it anyway. This problem has been going on for years and likely will for many more unless they are completely replaced. Good luck complaining to the new unitary authority about them!
