We understand that there was a meeting last night at the Council involving all of the Councillors. This meeting was the Joint Budget Scrutiny Meeting and was a meeting in public. Only unlike all other public meetings, this has not appeared online and we do wonder why. Usually Council meetings are online almost immediately if they are recorded and not live streamed. This particular meeting is also normally put online. As of 16:00 it still hasn’t appeared on YouTube. What do Labour have to hide? Since this is a proper first public look at their first budget, probably a fair bit. We do understand from sources that there was some criticism from the Tories (surprise) and that the appointed Chairman Councillor Chris Bain was not happy, visibly bothered and sighing at the length of the meeting and the repeated questioning of executive members of the council.
Unfortunately we couldn’t be in attendance, as no-one goes to these things from the public and we’d have stuck out like a sore thumb. So we rely on the videos for our reporting of the meetings. So we ask Tamworth Borough Council, where is the meeting? Whilst we can get some information from people inside the room, both we and some interested members of the public might want to see the shit show of a budget being presented by their shit show of a leader Carol Dean.
Having read through the changes available online we were astonished to see the first budget we’ve ever seen with ‘changes to savings reversed’ in relation to Marmion House. There are some other quite concerning issues with the budget in general, especially with what would appear to be ‘savings to be identified’ a classic Labour fudge that puts you straight on the road to bankruptcy. We have no doubt and are willing to bet that Labour defended it, whilst criticism of the Tories was rife. It’s your show now Labour, it would be a bit rich trying to blame anyone else.
We look forward to the video appearing. If anyone was there or has an opinion based on the publicly available (or private 😉) information, then please feel free to contact us.
