A lesson in town centre economics from no other than everyone’s favourite town nutjob Ron Brown. A man who has never held public office in his life, and would be laughed out of meetings if he ever brought his unique brand of destabilised thinking to the council chamber. We’ve mentioned before when we get bored we go look at Ron’s page, there’s amazingly at the time of writing 207 members of his group. We can’t decide whether they’re lapping up everything he says (he certainly thinks so), or have a sadistic love of watching a ranty man’s mental decline.

Let’s look at Ron’s claim about the car parks. He seems to think making the car parks in the town centre free would be the saviour of it. He is of course wrong. As someone dared to point out to him with respect to shopping habits below. Ron doesn’t seem to realise that free parking in a town centre would just encourage people to hog spaces all day and create a substantial gap in the councils finances, that his tax would have to rise substantially to cover.

Nice try there George, but you’ve committed the cardinal sin of disagreeing with our Ron, and such dissent shall not be tolerated! Ron treats George to a rant so long and immaterial to the argument that as usual we nodded off mid way. A discussion around parking in Tamworth has become about most of the whole world apparently not having bank accounts, and not having the price of a meal in their pockets. We think they’ve got bigger problems than trying to park then Ron.

Interestingly in his rant, Ron does appear to be inciting an uprising with the comment about thugs (clearly in relation to recent Holiday Inn events) and appears to encourage rioting to ‘take control back’. It’s subtle but it’s there. We bet Ron was rubbing his hands when the riots happened, at a display of ‘people power’ and citizens against the government. We’ve already established he’s racist on this site previously so it is no surprise.

Irony is lost on Ron when suggests the ballot box is where people’s interest lies, despite going off on a tangent as he does about the government not allowing online voting. Now we’ve covered this previously too. Ron just doesn’t get that physically going to vote in a tried and trusted way, or posting your verified ballot in, is a small inconvenience for the sake of actual democracy, which despite people claiming otherwise we still do have here. Ron would love to reduce both the occasion and security of our most important democratic event to that of Britain’s Got Talent. They even have trouble with electronic voting machine integrity in the US (which you still have to visit to use), hence why one of the worlds oldest democracies has stuck with pen and paper thank you very much. People also generally like to feel they have participated in the process rather than just click a button. Ask those you know who actually do go out and vote, why they do, a lot of people will admit to having a certain satisfaction about doing so. They also can physically see how robustly the current process is set up. Physical votes are much harder to manipulate and much easier to detect if they are. It’s not hard to understand why we do it this way.

Ron is pretty much spouting this crap every single day on his Facebook page. Unfortunately it only takes a few people to agree with him and spread his poison amongst other feeble minded morons and we have a population that is completely bereft of common sense and reason. Ron is happy to watch from behind the parapet like a coward sending verbal garbage over the top in response to attacks, whilst letting his screwed up thinking go out to conquer the small minded. He’s even stopped asking the questions at the full council meetings he turns up for now, getting one of the village idiots Mark Hopkins to read his questions out for him. Part of us wonders if he actually knows his idiotic ideas are just that, and won’t be seen out with them in public.

If we were Tamworth Police though, we’d be a bit concerned about Ron’s sympathetic leanings towards rioters. Just because he’s a nut on the Internet, it doesn’t mean he’s harmless. He is after all preaching some concerning stuff, and terrible things as we all know have previously come from people doing that.
