First let’s establish one thing. Councillor Richard Kingstone actively promoted and pushed his following to vote Labour. He has spent the time since he launched his solo career off the back of a successful group, trying to ruin his former colleagues and lose them their positions. Richard Kingstone has not changed. He is still that person. He is still the smug chancer political opportunist he was then and he’s not about to change.

So were we surprised to see a Facebook post of his admonishing Labour over their reopening of Marmion House? Not in the slightest. Were we surprised that he states that he is going to call for an extraordinary meeting to debate the reopening? Nope not at all. Because Kingstone is as ever playing his own game and is trying to make himself the hero of the hour to his following by being seen to take action about this. Although ultimately, it will make no difference (not that he cares). We’ve seen straight through it naturally, because Kingstone never ever does anything that doesn’t ultimately benefit him and his profile.

Kingstone reckons the 5 signatures he needs won’t be hard to come by. Because of course everyone is on his side and thinks the same way. That’s as may be, the Tories evidently have common ground in their feelings regarding the Council offices. It doesn’t mean that they should just run in and give him what he wants though, because they’d be setting him up to enlarge his own ego, give him a platform to perform on. Much hot air will be expelled and it won’t change the fact that the decision has been made and the combined opposition don’t have the numbers to change anything. All Kingstone will achieve in reality by calling a meeting will be a wage bill for the extra staff time to put everything together. Kingstone however wants his opportunity to perform. Having recently started putting out leaflets in his ward, we still think him standing for County Council is on the cards. Wouldn’t this meeting that he called and ‘pushed’ for do the trick nicely for his election leaflet.

Then we have the comments where Councillor Lewis ‘Senseless’ Smith tries to justify the reopening, whilst also without a hint of irony, lying about it. Labour have stated they intend to keep the offering of a Council desk service at the Assembly Rooms in parallel with Marmion House. He also conveniently omitted the incidental costs to reopening the building for meetings. But this is Liebour after all. It’s what they do.

Leader of Fazeley Council Simon Goodall fights the good fight by continually reminding Kingstone that he wanted this shower in power. We’re sure his comment will be hidden by Richard as they often are when they attack him.

What we say to the Council opposition tonight is don’t fall for Kingstones’ tricks, don’t give him the opportunity to stand there and behave as if he hadn’t wished for Labour to be in power and is now letting Tamworth reap what they sowed. He helped cause all of this with his troll friend, and the only way back is voting the buggers out gradually over the next decade. Not by giving Kingstone the time to stand there and posture and stroke his own ego. Kingstone needs to fade away from politics for everyone’s sake.
