Our local Labour councillors are of course going to stick up for Sarah Edwards and the conservatives are of course going to do/say the opposite. So who should we be listening to in regards to these horrendous riots and that’s the residents, they are speaking out and should be listened too.
Whether Sarah Edwards MP doxed the Tamworth hotel first or not is irrelevant, she spoke out in parliament on more than one occasion saying things like ‘we want our hotel back’ ‘Tamworth have had enough’ etc. she named the hotel (of which Tamworth only has one holiday inn) so these thugs finding it was never going to be hard.
We need to learn that our words not just our actions have consequences even more so if you’re fighting an election because these words will always come back to bite you. Sarah has claimed many things in our town like getting our original police station back to the councils front desk, none of these things she can do but used them anyway to play on the insecurities of the residents.
People are now speaking up and speaking back, a little too late? Maybe but at last is better than none at all.
Sarah didn’t tell people to go and attack the hotel but when you use wording like she did, did she not think that she was fuelling the racist hatred that runs through our country and even in parts of our own town. This is something an MP should know and most definitely should avoid. People get murdered and attacked all the time because of their skin colour or ethnic backgrounds so how on earth did she think what she said wouldn’t have an impact. Maybe she wanted that impact because let’s face it, the asylum seekers have now been moved on and who’s to say if they will be back. So she got what she wanted in the end.
There were boys and young men in that hotel cowering in corners fearing for their lives after fleeing countries that made them feel the same, I understand we should help our own I agree with that, but also if someone is scared and needs help should we should push them away and say we don’t care, no because that would make us no better than where they came from in the first place.
Should Sarah Edwards resign, maybe but she won’t. She should definitely have her whip removed and an investigation should be done after all if it was a Tory MP Labour would be shouting the loudest for that to at least happen.
